Joryj Kłoc is the Ukrainian Ritual Hip-Hop-God Grant-Ethno‐Demon band from Lviv (West Ukraine) that managed Ukrainian ancient instruments to resound in a modern way.

The name of group comes from the secret slang (argot) of closed fraternities of blind hurdy-gurdy and kobza players. JORYJ [yoryy] does mean respectable, honourable,

and KŁOC (there are pronunciation as [klotz] so [klyotz]) — whether piece, hunk, chunk, or old man; elder.

So in modern language the word-combination Joryj Kłoc can be interpret as Respectable, Honorable Man; or Cool Peppers; Big Nob or simply — V.I.P.

However all of them are suitable for this fab four ;0))

Joryj Kłoc [tutaj: Ł jest wymawiane jako «Ł aktorskie»] to ukraińska obrzędowa hip-hop-dajboże-etno-czort wataha ze Lwowa (Ukraina Zachodnia), dzięki któremu starodawne instrumenty ukraińskie zabrzmiały w sposób nowoczesny.

Nazwa zespołu pochodzi od tajnej gwary (argot) zamkniętych wspólnot niewidomych muzyków, grających na lirach korbowych i na kobzie. JORYJ − oznacza szacowny, honorowy i KŁOC − kawałek, przystojniak, fragment albo stary, starszy.

We współczesnym języku połączenie słów "Joryj Kłoc" można tłumaczyć jako Poważny, Honorowy Człowiek; Solidny Pan; Świetna, Znakomita Osoba, albo po prostu − V.I.P.

Jednakże wszystkie te tłumaczenia pasują do tej cudownej czwórki ;0))

Joryj Kłoc [Йорий Клоц] — українська обрядова хіп-хоп-дайбоже-етно-чорт ватага зі Львова (Західна Україна), яка примусила наші давні гудила забриніти по-сучасному!

Назва Joryj Kłoc походить з таємної говірки закритих братств незрячих лірників та кобзарів. JORYJ — означало: світлий, поважний, шанований, а також шалений, шибай-головий, запеклий; а KŁOC — шмат, кавалок, кусень.

А також: чоловік, старець, мудрець. Тож сучасною мовою зворот «Joryj Kłoc» можна розтлумачити як Світлий, Поважний, Мудрий, Шанований Чоловік. Або ж: Запеклі Перці чи Велике Цабе. Втім, що то, що інше — однаково гуртові пасує! ;0))

I have no idea why Ukrainians are so good with brass, but they sure are! Guys have quite a distinctive sound, it's not "traditionally folkish/ethnic", but at the same time really Ukrainian one. They know how to blow the brass, pump the rhythm and sing a song on top of that. Great job there! Nikolaj Š.
